Sell contract phone to cex

I was just wondering if anyone has used CEX for selling a mobile phone, iphone in particular. I have a couple of questions - any idea how their grading is. I have some minor scuff marks on the bezel and back but no scratches, and the screen is perfect. I would then sell my current phone on eBay to claw back some of the cash. It's difficult to give a clear-cut answer to this as it’s a bit of a grey area. We know for certain people do sell phones immediately when they take out a new contract without any problem. But whether or not it's something we would recommend is a different matter. CEX do buy 'contract phones' but will not guarantee it wont be blocked ! Heres how it works. Bob gets a free iphone after signing an 18 month contract costing £40 a month. Bob sells the phone and puts his sim into his old phone (no problems here) Bob gets fed up of paying the contract in say 3 months so cancels his direct debit. I just wanted to warn anyone, if they are thinking of selling their old phone to CeX DON'T TAKE THE TRADE IN VOUCHER!!!!! Seriously, unless one of their physical locations is near you, take the cash. Their voucher is so hard to use that it's driving me mad. First of all, they don't just put credit on your account. They send you a physical paper You can’t purchase your new phone online and trade in in store. The additional £100 won’t be visible online when trading in but will be applied once the device is received and checked at our warehouse. Any additional trade-in value will be given via bank transfer. Full trade in offer available with selected working and non-working handsets.

CEX in town also accept contract phones so I can't see that a big company would accept them if they were then to get blocked by the provider because CEX provides a 12 month warrenty. Most people also sell them as they are happy with their old phone and have no intention of defaulting. Girlfriend just had a voicemail from CEX. she sold her mobile phone to them in August, They are now saying there is an issue with the phone and they need to discuss the sale. She hasn't called them yet, But seeing as a) the phone was perfectly fine (I can vouch for this) b)it was ages ago and they spent and hour supposedly testing it

Best Answer: Are you just talking about the phone itself or the actual contract. If it is the phone there is nothing to stop you selling it, but you would still have to pay for the contract.
